Transitioning to Year 6
We have had a brilliant time in Chestnut Class over these past four weeks. The children have made our adults incredibly proud in the way they have settled back into their new routines. It has been such a pleasure to see their smiling faces every day and support them in reconnecting with their learning.
We have had had so many amazing learning experiences during the past four weeks. As a whole school, each class has been exploring the values of friendship through the beautiful book - 'The Rainbow Fish.' In Chestnut class, we used the message from the story to create our own poems exploring the impact of loneliness and the importance of friendship.
We also created some beautiful art work linked to the story.
We have had such a wonderful and enjoyable time being back in school. We are looking forward to transitioning to our new classes and achieving our aspirations and dreams as we venture into year 6.

Welcome back Chestnut Class!
The Summer holidays are almost over, and it will soon be time to return to school. Miss Dumelow, Mrs Phillipson, and the adults in Chestnut class are so excited to welcome you back into our wonderful classroom. We have missed you so much!
In order to keep everyone safe when we return to school, there are a few differences that you need to be aware of:
Firstly, not all children will be starting back at school at the same point. To keep everyone safe, some of you will be returning on different days. Please do not worry though, we will all be back together very soon!
In addition, our classroom will look slightly different. The tables will be laid out in a different way and you might be sat in a new seat. You will each have your own equipment to use and your very own well-being wallet. All you will need when you return in September is your coat, water bottle and a packed lunch unless you are having a school dinner.
Once everyone is back into school and settled into our new routine, we will be completing some work based on the following texts – ‘The Rainbow Fish’ and ‘Here We Are’. These books will help us to explore and discuss the world that we live in and aid us in creating some fantastic artwork and imaginative writing.
Just a little message for the children in Chestnut Class:
We have loved having you back in school for our reconnection days. We had so much fun playing cricket, blowing bubbles and creating wonderful artwork. Please enjoy looking at the pictures below.
During the Summer Holidays, remember to stay safe, stay positive and have lots of fun. We can't wait to see you again in September.

PE this half term is on a Monday afternoon, but as we sometimes get the chance to go outside for PE, leave your kit in school all week!
We aim to be superstar readers every week! Please remember to read 3 times to yourself in school, 3 times at home to yourself and 3 times to an adult at home to be a 'Chestnut Class Reading Superstar'. There are prizes and treats for children who reach this target on a regular basis! We check reading targets each Friday for 3,3,3!
Times Tables Rock Stars
The children love TT Rockstars! We are continuing our daily 'Times Tables Rock Stars' sessions. Remember, you can use your login at home to work on your skills and challenge staff and children, if you haven't logged in at home yet, try and have a go! We have been really impressed with many children from our class using this at home - we love the fact that you are challenging members of staff too!
This half term we are concentrating on a variety of different aspects of science. We are continuing to learn how to work scientifically and find out about states of matter and looking at evolution. Later on in our term, we are finding out about dinosaurs as part of our whole school science week- we have some fantastic things planned for the children!
Some of our literacy work will be based around our new class book 'Skelling' by David Almond
Art will also be based around a winter theme, and then linked to our new book.
