Welcome to Cherry Class!
The staff working in Cherry class are Mrs Rees, Miss Wykes, Miss Wallett and Mrs Godlewska. If you have any questions or issues please come and speak to us.
It was lovely to see everybody on our first Zoom meeting last Friday for our story about Mrs. Armitage and her car. We are really looking forward to seeing you all every day and during our Zoom calls we will be taking a register so please make sure you are logged on. We will be doing our morning 'Meet & Greet' Zoom session at 9.45am to start the day, then we will be doing our 'Maths Meeting' Zoom at 1.30pm. Log in details will be sent by text and put on class Dojo.
Please find above a remote learning menu for this week. It has all the targets images and topic tasks on and the Literacy and Numeracy tasks will be uploaded daily. There is also an example of a timetable which we will be following in school, if it helps!
Don't forget to send us a message on Purple Mash or Class Dojo to let us know about your reading at home - we are marking off the books you have read at home so that we can keep track of your home reading as well. You can need to log in to Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) to practise your times tables. There is a times table challenge to complete each week – I wonder who will complete the challenge first?
Remember to just let me know if you need any help or support

Happy New Year
We hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and a good start to the New Year!
Apart from the obvious benefits of improving reading skills, by encouraging children to read regularly, it can improve their imagination, spelling and punctuation accuracy. Reading also improves their concentration and vocabulary. The habit also makes children more stylish writers, as they copy elements of authors they have enjoyed and adopt these as their own. Children who read for pleasure are far more academically successful than those that don’t. So it really is a no-brainer: good reading habits make successful children.
By reading regularly with you and discussing the situation that characters find themselves in, children have an invaluable opportunity to help build empathy skills. For example, if a character in a book is being treated unkindly by a classmate, it gives a ‘safe space’ for relationships and treatment of others to be discussed in a situation where children can be objective and measured, rather than approaching the issue with bias and heightened emotion, as may often be the case when these situations arise in their real lives.
On the website, there is now a dedicated folder to 'Reading'. It is under 'Parents' and then 'Reading'. This page explains about the Oxford Reading Scheme and gives you and your adults useful tips on how to support reading at home. It has some fantastic suggestions of questions to ask when reading at home and offers guidance for parents to feedback to teachers about their child's reading. I look forward to seeing all the wonderful comments on Purple mash about your reading at home.
Please see below for a range of useful documents to support you with your reading at home.
Hi Cherry class,
I know that some of you are still isolating at home due to you or your parents not feeling well enough for you to come to school. Please find attached another home learning menu for you to do this week. This week we are thinking about the festival of Diwali and also Anti-Bullying week.
See you all soon, keep working hard and remember I am only an email away. Just send me a message on Purple Mash or ring school if you have any problems.
Mrs Rees
Hi Cherry class,
There are 3 children that have completed our Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) and they have got some fabulous scores and times. I wonder who will be the TTRS champion when we get back to school? Remember you have got 4 more days to complete this challenge!
Please find attached the next part of our Maths work. I can't wait to see your number line work when we go back to school, I think you will all be number line experts with how hard you are working.
Also, please find below a video of our Remembrance Day story - Where the poppies now grow. This links into the work from the home learning menu and our History work. Remember to do your 2 minutes silence at 11am to remember the soldiers!
See you all soon, keep working hard and remember I am only an email away. Just send me a message on Purple Mash or ring school if you have any problems.

Hi Cherry class,
Well done to all the children that have sent me their work through Purple Mash, I have seen some fabulous work which I have marked and sent back to you. Lots of children have started our Times Table Rock Stars (TTRS) and I am very impressed with the amount of questions you have been getting correct. I wonder who will be the TTRS champion when we get back to school? Remember you have got 7 more days to complete this challenge!
If you are needing a break remember to check out the PE activities on the 'Sports' page under children on the website for lots of outdoor and indoor PE activities you could do to re-focus yourself.
Please find attached another home learning menu for this week. I will also be adding videos to support you with your learning and remember I am only an email away. I will be phoning your grown ups again this week so if you want to chat to me I would love to hear what you have been up too.
See you all soon and keep working hard
Mrs Rees
Hello Cherry Class,
Below are some activities for you to be doing whilst our bubble is isolating.
There is a menu below with some activities on for you to do. There is one Literacy and one Numeracy activity a day, a range of topic activities to share over the 3 days and lots of activities and games on Purple Mash and Times Table Rock Stars for you to do. I have set everyone a challenge on Times Table Rock Stars. The children have got to complete 30 games of Time Table Rock Stars before the 16th November. I wonder who will complete my challenge first?
I will add more work as the days progress and add extra challenges for you to complete so remember to keep checking the website and Purple Mash.
Please remember if you have any questions you can email me through Purple Mash and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Stay safe and keep smiling,
Mrs Rees, Miss Wykes and Mrs Wallet.
Home Learning challenge - 22nd October 2020
Well done everyone, I am so impressed by the amount and quality of work that you have been doing this week. I think that there are lots of superstars in Cherry class who are ready for the next part of their learning.
Below I have attached a video message with a challenge in it for you. I wonder who will find the most answers? Maybe challenge your grown up to see if they can find more answers? Or challenge your grown up to say our Maths phrase about the answers - The first part is..., the second part is... altogether it makes...
Remember to keep sending me everything through Purple Mash, keep playing the games on Times Table Rock Stars and have a lovely half term, see you all soon!
