Dear Parents/ Carers,
Thank you for working with us and clearly the school closure has had impact on many families.
I feel that it is important in the interests of all to give you further clarity on how the decision was made to close. The last 2 positive tests came in Sunday teatime at 5pm. We quickly consulted governors, contacted the Local Authority and issued the text and the letter as soon as possible after those results - within an hour. We were critically aware that time was of the essence for parents to make other arrangements.
There were other underlying issues that we had made plans to manage but these last results meant we had to quickly rethink our position and risk assessments.
I hope this clarifies our thinking for you. We have aimed throughout to keep you fully informed as quickly as possible and we thank you for your confidence. We will aim to continue to weigh all risks and options carefully in order to reopen and remain open.
Thank you so much for the overwhelmingly positive comments we have seen. This really helps when we have to make very difficult decisions. We make these with a heavy heart – we do not want our children not to be with us at school – but we have to safeguard the whole school community, including staff and vulnerable members of children’s and staff’s families.
We will work to ensure that the remote learning offer continues to extend and is accessible to all. Please continue to check the website for further news and resources.
